What you can expect from your first visit
Your first visit will either take 30 or 60 minutes. We will take a full history of the condition, perform a physical examination, explain the diagnosis and treat accordingly. We will usually also give you some estimation of how long the condition should take to get better and how much more treatment we recommend, if any.
We would suggest that half an hour is sufficient for a straightforward injury, such as a sprained ankle or knee or if you have woken up with a stiff neck. We would recommend an hour for any problems affecting more than one area, or for a long-standing or complicated injury, particularly one that has not responded to previous treatment. If you are in any doubt, we would recommend that you book an hour- this will ensure that the physio can complete a thorough examination and treatment. If the physiotherapist feels that you only need half an hour, you will be advised of this and only charged for the half hour.
You will almost certainly need to undress, so you may prefer to bring a pair of shorts if, for example, you have a knee problem.
