He also enjoyed close working relationships with Orthopaedic, Neurological and Rheumatological consultants. He also practices acupuncture.

Vrushali Athare, MoSMT, MCSP
Vrushali graduated as a physiotherapist in 2004. She has a Masters degree in Orthopaedics, Sports and Manual therapy from the University of South Australia and worked there for a several years after it's completion. Having developed a special interest in the spine, she subsequently studied Pilates with Dance Medicine Australia and dry needling (acupuncture). She moved to the UK in 2009 and has been working in private practice since then: both in physio clinics and treating orthopaedic referrals at a private hospital. Having studied extensively, she has many different treatment strategies at her disposal and aims to tailor her expertise to the individual, focussing on their specific needs and goals. She works closely with the spinal consultants and neurosurgeons to help her patients achieve the best possible outcomes. She caught the travel bug at an early age and always intends to travel and experience more!

Her experience includes work with pre and post surgical patients, spinal rehabilitation work, treatment of sports injuries and sports massage for both county and national level teams and athletes. She has undertaken specialist postgraduate training with the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Women's Health which enables her to provide assessment and treatment for urinary incontinence and mild prolapse and she also offers advice and treatment to strengthen the pelvic floor following gynaecological surgery and ante and post-natally. As part of her work with the APPI health group, Cara trains other physiotherapists in the clinical use of Pilates throughout the UK, and provides weekly ante and post natal pilates sessions here at our City Road clinic.

David A Johnson - Pilates

David has trained in movement, form working out in the gyms of the 80’s, taking dance classes at the groundbreaking Pineapple Studios to studying Capoiera in Brazil and has worked semi-professionally as a performer for 15 years.

As a mature student he studied History of Art and Anthropology at Oxford Brookes University. With a history of shoulder problems and the onset of unspecific leg problems he found himself in the Pilates studio of Lynne Robinson’s Body Control Group. So impressed with the ideas and philosophy of Pilates David has since studied with Michael King at the Pilates Institute and with the recently established BASI courses at the Royal Academy of Dance. He is currently studying with Polestar Pilates and hopes to one day return to Anthropology looking at systems of body training.

David currently teaches mat work to a wide demographic from private one to one classes at client’s homes, to group mat classes at private health and fitness clubs across London. He also teaches Body Balance which mixes Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates.

Ana Verastegui: Massage Therapist
Ana began her massage training in 2003, initially concentrating on eastern techniques and working in a number of clinics around London. During this time she started her own practice in a community centre in Hackney where she was sponsored by the Shoreditch trust to provide affordable treatments to the community.

In 2007 she completed her sports massage diploma and became increasingly involved in the treatment of musculoskeletal patients in tandem with manipulative and exercise physiotherapists. This has improved her understanding of injury which in turn has improved her effectiveness when treating patients. She also works as a musical theatre company treating student dancers.
